1st. Pennsylvania Light Artillery, Coopers Battery B will hold a civil war encampment at St. Matthews Episcopal Church.
The original battery was formed in Mount Jackson , (Lawrence County ) in June 8, 1861.
They participated in every major battle in the Eastern Theater and holds the highest casualty record of any volunteer artillery unit.
We will begin setting camp up sometime Friday in the church yard.
Saturday throughout the day we will be doing cannon drills . Spectators, are welcome to participate in the drills (we cannot fire this year due to limited space)
We plan on doing a few marches through the streets again this year.
The ladies in camp will answer questions on daily life during the civil war.
We are also planning setting of a recruiting station in camp.
Stan Zellers, a friend and a union infantry reenactor will be on hand as well to discuss the infantry side of the war.
